ABOUT KIDS & YOUTH CHURCH

We think partnering with families to help kids grow up to love Jesus is a key part of our mission as a church, so all our programs include age-appropriate bible teaching, as well as some games, music, and craft activities. We have a great team of Kids ministry leaders who are all Safe Ministry trained.

On any given sunday, our kids spend the first 15-20 minutes in the service and then they head out to a group that's tailored for their age group. If it's your first time with us you can speak to one of our staff to help you find the right group and chat about any things that will help us care well for your child.

programs

  • This program is for children between approx. 9 months and 3 years of age (children need to be able to sit unassisted). We provide a safe and calm environment for your child to explore various age appropriate play activities.

  • The preschoolers (3-5 years) and primary kids (R-4 and 5-6 groups) have a great time playing games, learning about the bible through songs and craft and, weather permitting, enjoy supervised free play in our fully fenced outdoor area.

FAQ's

  • We follow the Anglican Diocesan policy and procedure, which requires all of our leaders to have a valid Working With Children's Check (WWCC), be screened by the Diocesan Safe Ministry Unit and complete 1.5 hours of training in safe ministry practices. They are also well supported by our Associate Pastor, Katy Annis, who has a background in primary school teaching.

We take the safety of children at church very seriously. You can read our full policy including people to contact if you have a concern.

    child safe policy and procedure

  • For creche we encourage parents to send a snack, drink bottle and hat. No nuts please.

For preschool and older groups, we provide a light snack and water, but please send a hat in the warmer months in case we venture outside. If you would prefer to provide a snack for your child from home, please feel free to do so and speak to a leader about this when you sign your child in to the program.

Sunscreen is provided at sign in stations in warmer months, please apply this to your child when you drop them off.

  • We make every effort to cater to the needs of all children and youth who attend our programs. When the kids go out from the main service to their respective programs, our Associate Pastor Katy Annis is available to speak with any parents about their child's particular needs. She will ensure that leaders are appropriately informed and equipped to help care for your child. We look forward to meeting you and them!

  • Of course! While we go to great lengths to make Kids and Youth church programs a safe, engaging and fun environment, we know that sometimes in a new place and with new people, the best place for your child is with you. Children are always welcome to remain with their parents/guardians in the main church service, and we don't mind at all if they make some noise.
